Behind

I know that I am a little behind, but the fam and i made an impromptu trip to Va and then to the beach... we had a wonderful time and it was completely worth it.

That being said though does not put a new lego project up on the site.. so i will be making at least 1 extra project this week to make up for my lack of one last week.. it is only fair that I should have to do some form of penance  for my blatant disregard for the rules of this engagement.... be back later with some updates

UEFA Champions League

This week saw the 2nd leg of the knock-out round of the Champions League between Manchester United and AC Milan. For those of you that don't know I am a pretty big AC Milan fan, while ManU still holds a special place in my heart... Milan is #1 and United is #2... Well in this meeting between the two giants did not go in Milan's favor at any point... and a complete thrashing ensued...

So at first I had decided to build a broken heart... because that is what I was feeling....

But as much as some of my friends might want to say it I am not that big of a cry baby, and hey my 2nd favorite team is headed to the semi-finals... so I have decided that this week I will do a mosaic based on MUFC... I will share more tomorrow.

Here he comes...

So as I traversed the wilds of the early march yard sales I realized one thing that I should always remember... it is had to find Lego blocks and inspiration at Yard Sales. However it is great fun times with my family so I will continue to partake of the richly american past time.

I will say though inside moving yard sales are the weirdest.

All the driving around today did however give me some inspiration... So I decided to make a famous vehicle... umm... no not that one.

I decided to make one of the most famous and easily recognizable comic cars of all time... that's right the...

BATMOBILE

now the best thing about building the Batmobile is that every artist gets to make his own design for the car and that just fits right into the cannon of Batman... so here is the Batmobile as designed by me...

There is a little bit of the 1989 Batmobile and a little bit of the Batman the Animated series car... overall I like it.

Friday

So this week has just flown by like none other that I can think of in recent memory... I know that technically this post is happening on Saturday morning, but I have not gone to sleep yet, so as far as I am concerned it is Friday night...

I have actually not figured out what to build for this week yet, I am a little bummed that I haven't found anymore lego on at the thrift store again... but tomorrow morning my family and I are going out Yard Saling and I am very excited about the possibilities. I am hopeful that we will find something that I just know has to be built... because I have only tomorrow to get this weeks project up... I really need to stop putting this thing off like this... but I need some inspiration.

So if anyone out there has any ideas about stuff that should be "lego-ized" please don't hesitate to let me know.

The Bible

So I wanted to do something this week that meant a little bit more... and I stumbled and bumbled and could never figure out what to do... I thought about doing something from the Lord of the Rings, and I know that would have been amazing and something that I would have been very proud of... but I knew that wasn't quite right... so what to do.

While I was talking with a friend he mentioned that he had never seen a Bible made out of Lego... I began almost immediately working on this then, that was it that was the meaningful thing that I could make, and I was very excited that I figured it out before time ran out in getting a project done for this week... of course I never said that there would be something every week, just that there would be two blog post with at least one update.

Now that I had decided to do a bible I had to figure out how in the world I was going to make it... I knew that it needed to open, because what good is a book that doesn't open?  So first I pulled out my hinges...

Then I began working on the front of the bible...

I figured that I had better write Bible on the front so that everyone would know that is was not just a regular book.  As you open the Bible however you start to see a different story unfold...
I chose to do this scene because I think that this is what the whole of the Bible is all about...

Matthew 28:1-6
1 Early on Sunday morning, as the new day was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went out to visit the tomb. 2 Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. 3 His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. 4 The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. 5 Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.

It is in the resurrection that Christians can rely and know that there is life everlasting

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

So that is why I chose this as the vignette to be in my Lego Bible...

Next week something lighter... enjoy.

The Free Kick

For those of you that don't know, I am an avid world football fan, that is soccer to you silly Americans out there.  So for this week I have made a very nice outside of the box "Free kick".  I think that it is a very nice little vignette and not bad for my first micro.

I chose to use red and blue for the kits (uniforms) because most of the great city rivalries in football are red vs. blue... AC Milan V. Inter... Manchester United V. Manchester City... Arsenal V. Chelsea... I am sure that there are more but I thought that was enough to make my case.

Again I am sorry that this is rather late, but I had to wait for my wife to get home with the camera, and then I have been down sick for a couple of days... but here you go finally... the Free Kick!

Since you were so nice as to wait for that I will throw in a MOC (my own creation) for good measure.

no camera

So I need to make this post, though I am not sure that I can really count this one. But my wife went on a vacation to take our son to meet his great grand parents and thus took our only working camera with her.

I do have my weekly project completed but I have to wait for her to get home to be able to show you... I am going to let this count because I didn't have any choice...

So tomorrow, or Monday when my wife returns I will have pictures of a new micro-vignette!
